What we are building for school music programs

PerfectMyMusic is an online music program for school music classes. Right now it teaches music theory, and more will be added over time. This page shows what is ready now, what comes next, and the ideas we are exploring.

Ready for classes now, or already under way.

The pilot

Starts November 1, 2026

Some schools were invited to be part of the pilot. Their teachers use PerfectMyMusic with real classes and tell us what works and what gets in the way, and we use what they tell us to improve the program before it opens to more schools.

Music theory, Levels 1 to 3, ready to teach

Ready now

Music theory is where PerfectMyMusic begins, with four levels that build on each other, and Levels 1 to 3 are ready: reading and counting notes, rests and clefs; then eighth notes, dotted rhythms, dynamics and tempo; then the keyboard, scales, key signatures and intervals. Every unit has a short narrated lesson, practice questions and a quiz, and the gradebook shows how each student is doing.

A teaching guide for every unit

Ready now

Every unit of Levels 1 to 3 has a guide with an overview, the learning targets and tips for the places students usually get stuck. A teacher opens it from the unit’s page in Curriculum inside the app, and it prints cleanly for planning.

A welcome video for students

Ready now

Before the first pretest, each student watches a short video that shows how a unit works, from the pretest and lesson to practice and the quiz. Students start the first unit knowing what to do, so less of the first class goes to explaining the screens.

A public map of everything students learn

Ready now

The curriculum page lists every level and unit in order, with what a student can do after each one. A principal, a parent or a teacher at another school can read it without signing in, and print it.

Pick up an exercise or quiz on any computer

Ready now

A student who stops partway through an exercise or a quiz can pick it up again on any computer after signing in, at the same question with the same questions. This helps when a class shares or swaps devices.

PerfectMyMusic opens to more schools

Opens November 30, 2026

After the pilot, music programs beyond the invited pilot schools can order PerfectMyMusic and start music theory, Levels 1 to 3, with their classes. What we learn in the pilot is built in from the first day.

Music theory, Level 4

Arrives January 2027

The fourth level of music theory, with twenty more units, including its reviews and exams: sixteenth notes, triplets and compound meter, the grand staff, more scales and intervals, and triads and their inversions. Each unit comes with its lesson and teaching guide, so a class that finishes Level 3 can go straight on.

Ideas we are looking into, with no dates. Press “I would use this” on any you want. It helps us decide, and it is not a promise.

Georgia All State Chorus prep

A new addition to PerfectMyMusic that prepares choir students for all three parts of the Georgia All State Chorus audition: scales, the solo and sight reading. It would be built the way the theory levels are, with short lessons and practice that checks each skill, and it would give a choir director one place to prepare a whole section.

Sight Singing

A new addition to PerfectMyMusic that teaches students to sing melodies at sight with solfege. It would take them through six stages of short units, from two-note patterns in simple meter to full melodies in major and minor keys, with sixteenth notes and compound meter in the last two levels.

A placement test for music theory

A short test that finds where a new student should start, so students who already read music do not have to begin at the very first unit. A teacher would see the suggested starting point for each student and decide whether to use it.
